Wednesday, May 1, 2024: CotD and ICHQ - The Pop-up Shop Hours and Events

It’s the first day of the month, the last day of which is release-day for Candy Macabre! It comes out 5/31, and there’s a release event (more details below) on Saturday, June 1 at the ICHQ pop-up shop in the Asheville Mall.
It’s the residency no one is asking for!
The album release has commandeered the Substack, and essentially caused me to delay writing/posting all the little essays I’m planning on music (They Might Be Giants, Robyn Hitchcock), books (the Tractatus and Pattern Recognition), and filmed entertainments (Blade Runner, Alien, and Deadwood). But that’s okay. There is world enough and time to get to all of that. For now, I need to share the plans for the pop-up shop.
The schedule is below! and I’ll update it as things evolve—they always do! You can bookmark this page, and I’ll link back to it in future post. We’re having some performances and other happenings. Plus, this is the exclusive physical retail outlet for the first Indoor Condor album, Candy Macabre. You can also get IC shirts and posters! And pretty much nothing else.
I have to get liability insurance, because the mall requires it, and so I’ve had to explain this pop-up shop idea to some insurance brokers, who are not my target audience, and I’ve found myself saying things like, “think of it as a record store that sells only one record.”
I’ll open the ICHQ in unit K-02 of the Asheville mall, by the eyebrow place, outside JC Penny, on May 30. The first two days are a soft open. Then we’ll roar into a grand opening and record release event on Saturday, June 1.
