Greetings, Condorians!
A rare Saturday dispatch from the Fuzzy Basement, the very nest of your ever-loving Indy Condie. Dateline: the here and now!
I wish I could drop the schtick, but I think this is me at my most sincere. “Officially,” the album came out yesterday; I’ve been selling it during the soft open of the ICHQ Candy Macabre Pop-up Shop in the Asheville Mall for two days, but today is the Album Release Event.
I’ve been saying “event” and not “party” on purpose. Doing things at the mall has its advantages—especially in the lazy-performance-art-style-bullshitty-commentary-on-consumerism-and-the-death-of-the-public-square kinda way—but it’s also limiting. For instance, depending on the day of the week, the mall closes somewhere between 6:00 and 8:00 pm. Plus, I can’t serve food or drinks, so really what kind of party could that be? A stone-cold sober one, for one thing. Eek!
So…I’ll see you tonight, right? You should get there by 5:30. (Advantage of the mall: ample free parking!) Matt is going to DJ starting then. Around 6:00, the poet of our generation, the aforementioned Matthew Corey will read some of his wonderful poems. Kyle Gordon from MammaBear will also be playing, and me, the Indoor Condor, I’ll be playing too. Come see us!
Where are we? K-02—outside JC Penny, between the perfume place and the eyebrow place.
